For my birthday, my wife bought me a really nice Dewalt scroll saw. This thing is so nice. As a first project to test it out and make sure I know how to use it, I made the following guitar hook/hanger out of pine and cedar. Works great and is a bit more attractive than the one’s you can buy.
In the summer of 2020, in the middle of the pandemic, my stepson and his girlfriend came to stay with us for a couple of weeks. While with us, I taught him how to use the lathe and hand tools to make the following tobacco pipe. I had some Algerian briar waiting just for this project. As you can see below, the burl is beautiful. The stem is not acrylic, as I didn’t have any, so we made it out of a black plywood pen blank that I also had on hand.
On the whole, it turned out to be a remarkable piece that smokes smooth and clean.
Here’s a coffee table I designed and taught our daughter and her fiance how to make as an engagement gift. She found some different designs online, so I took those pics and designed this one based on them.
